The KTM rider of Renfro had Cochran to deal with this time, as the Mississippian kept the pressure on throughout the entirety of the moto, but he was forced to settle for 2nd. The 2nd place finisher from the first moto, Preston Masciangelo, suffered a freak crash on the start straight in which he found himself
in 39th position on the opening lap. He showed extreme levels of determination to pick himself up and battle all the way back to 23rd in just four laps, but the inconsistent finish left him no chance of an overall podium. The Minnesotan of James Clough put in a steady showing from the gate drop and rode the entire race ahead of Kawasaki’s Krystian Janik, the two of them crossing the finish line just under one second apart from one another. Janik’s consistency was enough to earn himself the final spot on the overall po- dium when the final checkered flag was shown.
