DEVIN HARRIMAN
Rain, rain, go away. come again another day. That might have been the rhyme on the forefront of the minds of most of the riders during this treacherous and muddy round of AMSOIL Arenacross. Thanks to the unexpected change in the forecast, we ended up with rain that lasted all day long.
And the rain led to mud. And the mud led to gnarly track conditions. But for Washington native, Devin Harriman, he didn’t even flinch. After all, with nearly 152 days of rain a year in his hometown, he’s well versed in the art of mud racing. Qualifying 36th in the AX Lites Class and 42nd in the AX Class at last week’s race in Ontario, he didn’t even make the night show. But Harriman came back swinging this week in Salinas and the muddy conditions did little to hinder his success. Where other riders weren’t as thrilled to be drenched in mud, Harriman was able to skillfully maneuver his race steed to a 13th place and 11th place finish in Main Events 1 and 2, respectfully, in the AX Class and an inspiring 3rd place finish in the AX Lites Class. To go from not qualifying for the night show to podium appearance in one week is nothing short of impressive.
