Matthew LeBlanc had himself a successful weekend down at Pala Raceway for the califor-
nia classic. He was in unfamiliar territory being an east coast kid at a west coast track but
he arrived in california early enough to get the vibe the west coast has to offer. The classes he raced in, 85 (9-12), 85 (9-11) Limited, 65 (10-11) and 65 (7-11) open were all ripe with competition and exciting racing. The Louisiana kid finished no worse than second overall in all four classes. It was a very consistent effort in very unpredictable classes full of budding talent. The two 85 classes he raced in were riddled with bad starts. LeBlanc just could not put him- self in a good position early and it quite possibly cost him a chance at a title. He nearly stole a race win from Jett Reynolds in the final moto of 85 (9-11) Limited in one of the better races of the weekend.
