>> To be on top of this game, you must push the pace; otherwise, the younger generation will surpass you in an instance. Thomas Covington is well aware with that, as most often in his career, he was the one putting a true “hurt” on the field, at an extremely young age; from the moment he was on a PW50 at the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National, to his spectacular B Class run in 2011, he’s always been at the forefront of the field. This weekend was no different, putting on in front of his native fans. Out front early in moto one, his lanky frame was to the fender off the start, all the while his right elbow cocked at 90 degrees, keeping the white Husky plowing through the sands. With the team all around, they were help push the American to the finish, lighting a small flame within his soul. Enough to grit to push him to the line, he would hold off a surging Hunter Lawrence, claiming second.
A near holeshot in moto two, was quickly overtaken by RJ Hampshire, who stormed around the number 64 on the outside. Never rattled, he tried his best to stay at- tached the rear sprocket of the Geico rider, but to no avail, he began to slip little by little. Skying over the tabletops, he then began to be swarmed by Hunter Lawrence and Jeremy Seewer. The two surging combatant’s would fight, joust, and slash, at his 6 o’clock position, eventually working their way through his mirage of a screen. Falling to fourth, he would reside here until the finish, good enough for a splendid third place overall on the day.
