The star-studded field of the so-called “Intermediate” ranks, lined the gate yet again to begin their festive week in the drenched Florida soils. The entire northern subsection of Florida was engulfed in precipitation over the past few days, leav- ing the track crew scrambling in the eleventh hour. With dozer’s running incessantly, the glistening ponds of the overnight hours were quickly drained away, leaving the course rather grotesque, but most certainly manageable to conquer. With many of these riders being relatively seasoned and exposed to these conditions before, the field seemed to be stuck in a bit of conundrum. Some, dreading the anticipation of slop-filled competition, while others, clasping their hands and almost salivating at the thought of another variable being added to the mix. Regardless, all preconceived notions were going to be “washed away” when it was time for the gate to drop, and the results would be able to solidify who truly was the best rider
