in the class. For division number one, the number 63 of Mr.Brown set out to etch the pace early. His technique of landing with his body towards the rear of the bike, mim- icking Ryan Villopoto, was work- ing. It was though on the backside of every jump, he would pull just
a tad bit more. Jo Shimoda, who
sat second, could read the letter- ing on the jersey ahead, yet never get within striking distance. Stilez Robertson, would round out the podium positioning, adjusting very impressively to the nature of the intermediate class. For the second gathering of qualifiying, it was Bainbridge, Pennsylvania’s Seth Hammaker pulling out to his nor- mality of leading ways. Still keeping the ball of momentum rolling from the Monster Cup, Hammaker set out to claim the fastest laptime of the moto; it would be counterintui- tive however, as as huge misfor- tune would strike on lap two, and subsequently, hand the lead to Jesse Flock. He, would actually go on to claim the title of fastest on the stopwatch, on his way to the win. Parker Mashburn, and Grant Harlan would trail him, in second and third. The second moto would provide a boiling point, the time
for the action to rare its head once and for all. Pierce Brown wanted to make this moto as easy as possible on himself, and he would start by leading the field for the first circuit. Flicking the rear end of his machine into the wind, the mechanic’s could read the emblem on his exhaust; all the while revving the KTM 250 to its maximum exertion. Shimoda, who again played second fiddle, had
the CRF250 pushing to the brink of disaster, yet remaining on two wheels the entire time. There was no stopping Brown, as he would come across the checkered flag with a five second lead, taking a title home to California.
