JAROMIR KOMANCIK / MOTOCROSS
Junior 25 +
It’s always a phenomenon when someone comes from seemingly out of nowhere, to steal the show in a spectacular sports event. The unknown, lurks in the shadows, while the rest of the field seemingly looks over their name
on the roster. Who in the world, was Jaromir Romancik? Was he even on the Supercross ballot, just a few short days ago? No one had any idea, and he absolutely thrived at that no- tion. He didn’t have to receive the limelight, and he honestly didn’t care for the attention prior
to the first gate drop. His results would say all that was needed, and he would quiet them all as soon as the pin would fall. It was almost as if silence had overtaken the entire complex of motorhomes and motorcycles, as a true dark- horse was taking advantage of all in the field, pushing any and all opponents to the wayside. A native of the Czech Republic, he made his name known in the motocross of nations taking a 15th placed-position in late 2016. Following up that performance, he contested the 2017 MXGP series, with a highlighted finish of 14th coming in the Russian Round. If he could accomplish those feats against the best of the best, there shouldn’t be a problem of domina- tion in this highly respected division. Continu- ing to lead, his time of 1:56 was four seconds faster than anyone else on the track, and he was adapting to the Florida soil extremely well. Pulling in each and every section of track,
his brake using antics were non-existent, as
he simply rolled through the deepest of ruts with a plethora of momentum. Going on to the finish line, he would look back, seeing a bit of pause, as Michael Clarke, and Dustin Jensen would finish second and third respectively. It was now time to duplicate that performance in moto number two, and he would start off the same way. A holeshot, and early lead would put him in front of local-boy’s Dustin Jensen, and Michael Clarke. Jaromir was enjoying his time in America, and you could see it translate in his riding style. A stylish flick over every jump on the track, spoke volumes to how well he was feeling in the USA. The laps would amount to the final checkered flag, where he simply flexed his bicep, proving he truly was the strongest individual in the age bracket.
