Still unable to turn around the inconsistent misfortunes, Thunder Valley was a positive day for the #19 of Bogle from start to finish. He qualified in 11th and although Justin was hoping for the top 10, he ended up showing the speed in moto one. He started out in a mediocre 13th before making quick
work into the top ten by getting around Short and Bisceglia for 9th. Still feeling the pain of the mid-week vegetable mishap, Bogle continued forward around Pourcel for 8th. As the race reached the middle point, Bogle got around Brayton for 7th, then Anderson for 6th and began to feel the pressure of Cole Seely and Eli Tomac who, together, had picked off numerous riders over the first half of the race. Bogle, as luck would have it, was no match for the two fellow factory riders and found himself in 8th until the final four minutes. With the checkers on the horizon, Bogle caught the weary #51 of Barcia making the pass and holding on to 7th for a solid moto finish. Using energy in the hard charge of moto one, Bogle didn’t
fare so well for moto two even though he blasted off to a top five start, finding 6th as the group crossed the line on the first lap. Bogle held 6th for a while until the energy source dropped off and riders began to catch their second winds. First, it was Musquin getting around for 7th, then Dungey got by during his mid-race charge for 8th. Then Tickle and Tomac get by shortly after pushing Bogle to 10th. Continuing to fade, his spirit depleted and the sketchy surface running dry, Fredrik Noren and Matt Bisceglia get by forcing to Bogle to 12th and eventually 13th once the French rider, Christophe Pourcel, gets by as the race neared its end. Bogle held 13th like a G the rest of the way home but ended on a disappointing note for 10th overall after such a strong moto one performance. The war wages on with a one week break before returning at High Point. Round 4 will hopefully see Bogle make himself more of the threat his past has proven he is.
