Cooper lost another position quickly to Savatgy and would settle into 3rd place with about 15 minutes to go on the clock. Then, with one lap to go, Cooper began quietly creeping back up on Savatgy and challenging for the position back. Unfortunately he couldn’t make it happen and had to settle for 3rd. In the second moto, Cooper seemed to be in a bit of pain as he got off to a top fifteen
start and was not rushing through the pack like usual. He made his way up to 9th by lap three and seemed to be ready for the day to be over. Cooper was able to get by another rider for the next few laps but he began to slow down gradually as the moto went on. With two minutes left on the timer, Zach Osborne and Arnaud Tonus made passes on Coop and he was back in the 9th position. He was able to make a last lap charge and take the position back from Tonus to finish a respectable 8th. Cooper would take 5th overall on the day.
