Trey was serious when the day began in Colorado and it was clear that he was tired of barely missing out on podium finishes. Practice went very well for him as he qualified a strong 2nd place going into the motos. When the gate dropped for the first 450 moto, Canard got a good jump but was beat by a few riders going into the first turn. He got together with another rider early on lap one but was able to keep it together and moving forward. He was riding a very close 5th place for most of lap one until a surprising sling shot move slipped him past Nicoletti for 4th place, right as they crossed the finish line. Canard fought hard and was laying down some fast laps, which allowed him to easily move into 3rd place when a problem arose for a rider in front of him. With nearly half of the moto complete, it looked like it was going to be an easy podium for
Canard until a hard charging Josh Grant began to put on a challenge. Josh got by him but Trey was not going to let him have it that easy. The hard work started to pay off as Canard began reeling Josh back in with about 10 minutes left on the clock. After a good serving of roost, Trey finally had enough, and forced his way past Josh to re-solidify the podium spot. Trey would finish 3rd in moto one. In the second moto, Trey pulled an amazing holeshot and seemed to have finally beat his curse of bad starts. The adrenaline was flowing in his Oklahoma veins and he was pushing hard.
