For the third weekend in a row Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac set the fastest lap in qualifying, giving him first gate pick on the starting line. The Colorado crowd cheered for
Tomac as the gate dropped in moto number one hoping to see the #3 in the front of the pack. Unfortunately Tomac got another horrible start and found himself outside of the top twenty. With a massive hole to dig out of, Tomac put on a charge and had his eyes set on the front. Dicing in and out of slower traffic Eli worked his way up to 5th place before the moto came to an end. This is not the way Tomac wanted to start the day, but it was a solid moto for the Monster Energy Kawasaki team as Josh Grant finished just ahead of Eli in 4th place. Bad starts continue to hinder Eli Tomac as he gets another horrible jump off the gate in moto two. A first lap mistake sent Tomac off the
track causing him to lose even more positions, but he did not let this phase him. ET put on an “out of this world” performance making passes lap after lap until he found himself all the way up to second place behind RCH Suzuki’s Ken Roczen. The Colorado native would settle here and finish out the race in second position. With 5-2 moto scores, Eli Tomac finished 3rd overall at round three of the Lucas Oil Motocross series.
