The dragster must’ve hit a little sludge off the pad, or been a tad color blind, because Brayton found himself buried deep on lap one, a disappointing nineteenth. He began to manual each respective roller; hop the immense amount of breaking bumps, feverishly searching for an alternative to pass those who sat in front of him. The switching of lines and mistake-free riding eventually paid dividends, as Brayton would pass numerous riders; with a fastest of time of 2:05, the effort would be just enough to come in proximity to Benny Bloss and finish of twelfth. Something he hopes to change for both the BTO team
and himself. A decent, but not spectacular gate fall for the number 10 of Brayton, had him pegged between two monsters (Baggett and Peick), nearing the five minute mark of moto two, sitting twelfth. The track visually growing rougher and rougher with each lap, Brayton knew his maturity would play in his favor, as the younger crowd would tend to tire and suffocate in the rough- ness. However, a few mistakes would cost him a few positions near the twenty minute mark, pushing him back to 14th. Fighting tooth and nail, Brayton would rally for a mere one position, but a twelfth overall back to the semi. The BTO boys were pleased with his result, and hope to improve as the series grows into the latter summer months.
