Garrett Marchbanks had the 5th fastest time in both sessions, putting his Team Green Kawasaki in the
mix right from the get go. He set a 1:08.2, about 7 tenths off of the lead time set by Mitchell Falk. In the first moto, Marchbanks got off to a decent start and found himself in 6th place as he crossed the finish line for the first time. He was able to escape the carnage in the opening rhythm section in which his former Team Green teammate Jordan Bailey got landed on. He was then passed on the 2nd lap by Cycle Trader/Rock River’s Lorenzo Locurcio, demoting him back to 7th position. The Utah native held onto 7th place until the final lap when he was able to take advantage of a McAdoo mistake to promote him to 6th position. In the second moto, he was fortunate enough to avoid even more carnage as he got tangled up with Mitchell Falk coming down the 5th gear start straight away. He avoided what could have been a nasty crash and had worked his way up to 8th place by the start
of the first full lap. Shortly thereafter, he worked his way past the #108 of Wageman and took advantage of Justin Cooper getting punted off the track to move his way up to 6th position. By the last lap, Marchbanks was hounding the #53 of Dylan Walsh for the final spot on the podium, but he wasn’t able to get past the Kiwi out of Cairo, GA in time for the checkered flag to be waved. He did manage to beat Walsh to the overall, securing his spot on the overall podium by way of 6th and 4th place finishes, overcoming lots of adversity and carnage in the process.
