Although we see Nicoletti inside of the top 5 often, it is usually within the first 10 minutes of the race and he eventually fades back/ has bike misfortune/ or crashes. This happened in moto 1 at round 8 and after battling for 6th early he eventually ended up in 14th. Using his great starting ability in moto #2 we
seen Phil running in 3rd. Ken Roczen had a terrible start but his ability to get through the field in a hurry on the opening laps is just unbelievable and Nicoletti got dropped to 4th before the end of lap one. It didn’t take long for teammate Justin Barcia, last weekends overall winner Eli Tomac, and Trey Canard to get by the #34 either. Phil held tough for the rest of the race and eventually got by Barcia later in the race and the two would battle for 6th for a good portion of the race until settling for 7th. 14-7 moto scores gave Nicoletti another 10th overall and the team has to be happy with his results.
