COOPER WEBB
Cooper Webb is on an absolute tear at the moment. He took over the red plate from Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy at the Red Bud National and hasn’t looked back since, winning three out of the last four motos in fairly dominant fashion. Webb came into the series as doubtful with a wrist injury and a lot of the media
experts were questioning whether or not he’d be competitive let alone make it the entire season. He has proven his tenacity and desire are unwavering and is on track to steal the 250 national championship from his teammate, Jeremy Martin. This could be a pivotal round in the championship, considering he’s marching into the Martin brother’s home territory with the red plate and
a point to prove. If he can beat them both at their home track, it could be a huge psychological leg up headed into Washougal, a track that he’s always loved. Webb has never won an outdoor national championship and since he’s making the move up to the 450 class next year, he’ll do whatever it takes to get another piece of hardware for his mantle. The only thing that hasn’t been consistent is Webb’s starts, but he has more than made up for it with his incredible late race pace. He always seems to be the fastest guy on the track when the two lap card comes out. Although he shows banzai speed at times, he’s a very calculated rider that knows how to manage the race as well as the championship. If he’s able to stretch the championship lead out to a larger margin heading into Washougal, it could spell trouble for his closest rivals as the series begins to wind down.
