AARON PLESSINGER
Aaron Plessinger has yet to return to the late season form that he showed in 2015 where he consistently
danced with podium contention and won a moto at the end of the year in Indiana. His starts have been his
main hinderance all year long, consistently putting him at a major disadvantage right out of the gate and forcing him to carve his way through one of the deepest 250 fields in recent memory. The Ohioan has two podiums so far this year, but those races have been overshadowed by poor results and lots of bad luck. There have been a couple instances where Plessinger does manage to pull a good start, but makes a mistake in the early laps that causes him to drop to the back of the field. At Muddy Creek, he had a goggle malfunction that popped his lens out and forced him to ride around in 14th place without making any headway. The very next moto he crashed in the first corner and was forced to fight his way back into the points from an extremely long way back in the field. Plessinger had more issues with his goggles in the second moto at Southwick and had to toss them in the latter stages of the race. He pulled off after the race’s end with eyes full of sand grains, writhing in pain and eagerly pouring bottled water down his face. If he hopes to return to winning ways in 2016, he’ll have to start out front with his Yamaha teammates, because the field is too stacked to give anyone a head start and expect to reel them back in as the race goes on.
