Following a stellar qualifiying effort, Cunningham hovered inside the top twenty for the early portions of moto number one. His trademark loose style, with elbows flaring and rear-end dancing, pushed the Texan to the 15th spot by the midway point of the moto. With the Suzuki popping and straining to get up Mt. Martin, Cunningham showed no fear and insisted on bonsai-ing the monstrous triple whenever
he could. Although playing with fire, the fearlessness paid dividends and propelled the Motorcycle Superstore pilot to twelfth. Running consistent 2:18’s, KC hopes to land in the top ten for round two. Placed a little bit further back for this second episode, he knew he had his work cut out for himself if he looked to do any damage and come away with a solid overall finish. With the sun beaming down on the picturesque raceway, and light beginning to blind the visor and lens of the 250 veteran, he never faltered and began to rally beside some of upper echelon in the division. 16th nearing the halfway point, he began to inch slowly, but surely near the front of the pack yet again. Coming down the start straight, Kyle kept the RMZ pinned to the brim, plowing through the absurd amount of braking bumps, rather than letting off and letting the track become the aggressor. Each lap it seemed as though he would pick off another competitor, eventually landing in twelfth place, all the while running laptimes in the 2:18’s; he would go onto finish an exceptional 13th and 14th overall on the weekend.
