DILAN SCHWARTZ
After a challenging start to the year for Dilan Schwartz, the Californian was eager to bounce back to his regular form at the 2018 FMF Cal Classic.
The Kawasaki rider entered 250 B,
450 B, and the Schoolboy 2 division
and battled for the podium regularly in all three. Schwartz produced his best finish of second place in the 250 B class and ultimately ended up fourth overall after the weekend of racing, equalling the same result in 450 B. A couple of finishes outside of the top five in School- boy 2 set him back to fifth overall, but he recovered in the final moto to earn his last podium finish of the weekend. His speed was undeniable from Thursday to Sunday and with a couple more consis- tent results, Schwartz would have been a shoe-in for the overall podium in all three of his classes. Although it’s been a slow start by his standards to his career in the B class, the Californian is on the up and up and will undoubtedly be back on the podium in no time.
JULIEN BEAUMER
Julien Beaumer’s speed in the 85cc division throughout the extended weekend that made up the 2018
FMF California Classic was incred-
ibly impressive. The Arizona native entered three separate classes aboard his TM85 and won three separate motos, finishing on the podium a couple more times in addition. He also found success in the 65cc (10-11) Limited class as he ended up with a third place overall, mostly due to a win in the second moto. Beaumer ended up leaving the California Classic with one championship and one overall podium finish, but he would have had more if it hadn’t been for a DNF in the (9-11) Limited class. His ability to get out front early throughout the course of the weekend greatly contributed to his outstanding victories and consistent results, separating himself from the rest of the pack at any given occa- sion. Beaumer’s results in the (9-12) division against the older crop of kids were equally impressive, finishing two out of three races within the top five in order to earn fifth overall. The Arizona native will be one to keep an eye
on throughout the remainder of the season as he chases the podium with unrelenting speed.
