Getting an even worse start, Webb was outside the top five for most of the first half of the second moto. Putting in some the fastest laps of the division, Cooper witnesses Savatgy go down in front of him, open-
ing the door for the overall. With ten minutes left to go, Webb made his way around the impressive rides of Austin Forkner and Jordan Smith to reach 3rd, creating a serious chance at turning his lackluster luck into his first overall of the year. Three laps left to go and Cooper had closed the gap on 2nd place Alex Martin who had been pressuring Shane McElrath in 1st on and off for the entire race. As the riders made their way to the two lap board Webb made the move around for 2nd and was absolutely manhan- dling the YZF around the Tennessee track. Making up over three seconds a lap, Webb was on Shane’s wheel and the battle was on once the white flag was waved. McElrath was clearly on fire as he tried his best to keep Cooper back but the pace of Webb was far too much, getting by the KTM rider on the very last lap. Putting in the comeback charge couldn’t have come at a better place than Muddy Creek, due to Webb’s history at the venue and the 2016 season gets a little more interesting as the 3rd Star Racing threat makes a strong case for his championship campaign. Is it Saturday yet?
