Red Bull KTM rider, Derek Drake, is yet another racer continuing to progress up through the amateur levels to make a name for himself in the highly competitive motocross
industry. Over the last few years, Drake has raced 85’s, Super Mini’s and even started the transition to big bikes
as early as 2014 in the Schoolboy classes. With his focus mainly on the Mini Sr. and Super Mini classes, Drake was a serious prospect in these unfathomably deep, youth classes over the past few seasons. Finishing an impressive 5th at the Monster Energy Cup of 2014 in the class. Through 2015 Drake began riding the big bike more and more and seems to have officially made the jump to the 250 class only. One of the few racers from California to head East to Daytona for the RCSX, Drake brings his KTM for both the Schoolboy 1 and Schoolboy 2 main events. Why the main events, you ask? Well, the number 33 bike has proven he belongs up front, with numerous top finishes. If I was a B Class racer, I’d be a bit weary of Derek Drake on the rough Daytona circuit.
