JAYCE PENNINGTON
Along with a few other familiar Amateur faces, Jayce Pennington also made the recent
jump up to the ultra-competitive A class ranks for the 2016 season. Receiving a boatload of Top 5 finishes at the 2015 Thor Mini O’s, two 5th’s at Loretta Lynn’s (even with three compressed vertebrae) and two 2nd’s at the Vurb Classic in California, the number 131 Kawasaki from Walnut Hill, Illinois had a year to remember in 2015. Carrying that same speed into 2016 Pennington comes to Daytona with nothing to lose and everything to prove, hoping to confirm he is now the contender he ought to be. Like all those other racers in the premier amateur class, though, the on-track pressures of so many up and coming racers is even more demanding when the stage is big; enter the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross event. In the sunshine of Daytona, the light is bright, the track, rutted and the competi- tion stacked, pushing the limits of each rider involved. It will be interesting to watch as Jayce Pennington and Ramyller Alves, both with very similar Top 5 resumes, moved up to the A class to contend with the likes of industry favorite, Austin Forkner. Jayce’s Seven MX, Team Green Kawasaki pushes to be up front with the big boys, locking in the expectations for the 2016 Amateur season.
