Davalos, by this time, had settled into the lead but quickly fell off pace with Malcolm running on jet fuel to take the lead spot, again in the final turn, on lap three. From there, the rest is history. Martin Davalos attempted to latch on, staying with Malcolm for a few turns but Stewart couldn’t be matched.
