Trying to follow his lead, Tomac moved around Tickle, for the second time of the night, and got by Reed,
for 5th, six laps later. With work still left to complete, Tomac was on fire with each passing lap, moving
left and right to find any way past those in front of him. Fast forward four laps and Tomac was now in 4th, moving past Brayton on lap twelve. With the top four riders sustaining the savage speed we’ve grown accustomed to, Tomac waited until lap seventeen to push Dungey back to 4th and off the podium for the first time in thirty-two races. Now, just Seely and Roczen remained ahead with the #94 of Roczen out front by a mile. Taking whatever he could get, Tomac continued turning up the volume and brought the noise past Cole Seely on lap eighteen to finish 2nd at the end of New Jersey’s third consecutive event since it’s 22-year hiatus. Now, with back-to-back 2nd place fin- ishes, opportunities are running thin for Tomac to make his way back to the top step of the box. With so many riders having chips planted on their shoulders as the season has shaped up, Tomac remains at the top of the list of final round contenders heading into the heat of Nevada for race number seventeen of the season.
