Jeremy Martin came into Metlife Stadium down in the points lead by fourteen points.
Still a shot at the title but not likely so he knew he needed to just go out and win if
he wanted any chance. He was surely fired up and it showed when he went out and
dominated qualifying practice with the fastest time. He was ready for the bright lights.
Martin got his must win night going with a fourth place heat race start. He looked fresh and quickly moved into third where he sat back and enjoyed a feisty battle for the lead between Bowers and McElrath. He would be able to sneak around McElrath midway through after he bobbled in a rhythm lane. Now in second, it looked like Martin was about to pounce for the lead when Plessinger came charging by out of nowhere. His teammate made the move and on him and then the move for the lead and the win. Martin held on for third but knew he needed to bring a little extra in the main event.
Martin cranked out another decent start getting his main event going in fifth place. He had some ground to make up if he wanted to win and he quickly did so moving into fourth early. Once he got there, he just didn’t have that blazing speed he needed to make moves. He slowly crept up on Bowers and eventually passed him for third mid- way through but that would be as far as he would go. He has to be disappointed with the result and championship hopes likely dashed but there is still one more round in Las Vegas and anything can happen in the Sin City.
