IMAGES/LAKEKILPATRICK Good thing Weimer strapped a shovel to the rear fender prior to the start of heat two, as he found him-
self buried in 15th in the opening moments; better get to digging, son. Little by little, the farmboy displayed his roots, slowly chipping away at the riders ahead of him. 15th to twelfth, and eventually tenth, where he would finish. A disappointing result, but a chance to rebound was just beyond the horizon; a shot in the semi. An encouraging pep talk seemed to light a fire under the seat of the RCH rider, as a holeshot in semi one would wipe away all that preceded the event. He would burst into the lead, and put the blinders on to any competition that came close, until the white flag neared that is. A race that seemed practically won by the Suzuki pilot, began to slip from his fingertips, one turn at a time. A series of mistakes would cause frustration to amount, and Josh Grant to zero in. Grant would unfortunately overtake the 12 near the checkers, resulting in a second place finish for the Idaho native. Weimer mistook the information at the riders meeting and looked for a green light instead of the 30 second card, resulting in a delayed reaction time, and 18th place start. The RCH competitor seemed to have trouble with not only the competition, but the rugged terrain of the course as well. Each rhythm lane provided separate challenges, eventually accumulating into mediocre laptimes. He couldn’t ever seem to find his groove on the Northeast terrain, finishing a lackluster 17th. Although disappointed, Weimer knows his true potential, something that RCH racing has reiterated and signed him on; he has nowhere to go but up.
