Weston got to see the track up close and personal as he spun a few laps on Thursday at press day. He used the time strategically and would have a slight advantage going into Saturday. When the day started in New Jersey, Weston jumped to 7th in the first free practice. He ended up qualifying a
strong 9th and was ready to do battle in the Jets / Giants stadium. Weston got a decent jump in 450 Heat 2, but was pinched off in the first corner. He was still able to make his way into qualifying position by the end of the first lap and would do his best to hold off the slew of top riders behind him. Weston managed to hold off the number 1 qualifier, Musquin, and punch his ticket to the Main. The #28 got off to a good jump in the Main but made a bit of contact with some other riders coming down the start straight. He was able to keep it together and made his way into the 9th position by the end of the first lap. He continued to move forward and passed his way into 7th by lap 6. On lap 9, Weston got together with Bogle and lost 2 positions quickly. He found himself in 10th place by lap 12 and was doing everything he could to get the positions back. The struggle was real for Peick in New Jersey as he shuffled back to 11th place by the checkered flag. Look for Peick to finish up the season strong next weekend.
