>> Going into the season finale with a three-way showdown for the cham- pionship, the stakes were high for Zach Osborne. The night did not start out strong for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider with struggling throughout his heat race. After getting a bad start that left him back in 14th, Osborne had his work cut out for him. He was quick to make some moves working up to 12th by the 3rd lap. Still needing a few more positions to qualify for the main he was working hard. By the end of the race he was very narrowly able to make into 8th place, sending him into the main. Sending it out of
the gate Osborne was off to a great start until getting taken out by Mcelrath causing a huge pile up. After untangling his bike and getting going again, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider was in the back and losing sight of his championship. Not giving up because of a mishap on the first lap he began charging hard through the crowd hunting down his two targets, Smith and Savatgy. With only 10 min left in the race he was sitting back in 18th place. Then just a few minutes later he had worked his way into a very impres- sive 14th. With the other two riders making the mistakes they had the only person left for Osborne to worry about was Savatgy and he beginning to come into sight for him. Riding as hard as he possibly could, fighting for that championship, on the last lap he caught up to Savatgy with only a few sec- tions before the finish. Coming into the turn hot out of the whoops Osborne makes contact with Savatgy that caused the Kawasaki rider to go down. Osborne managed to keep it on two till the finish claiming his first ever 250 Supercross title. Working hard all season it was a hard fought well deserved championship for Zach Osborne.
