>> Jake Weimer is no fresh face to the 450 class with some career highs and some career lows. This season has been a roller coaster ride like any other for the Suzuki rider, even catching himself a semi race win so far this season. Trying to carry forward momentum through the long Su- percross season, Weimer only a couple weekends back was able to get his first top ten of 2017 in Arlington. Knowing he could be up there with those guys fighting for the podium if not a top 5 Weimer has been training hard throughout the week, working for the results he wants. Qualifying into the night show in 18th the work was going to be cut out for him the RCH Suzuki rider was going to need to pick up some speed on the track for his heat race. Charging out of the gate Weimer was right around 9th through the first turn, with some tough competition ahead of him. Bat- tling it out the best he could the #12 finished his heat race in 9th and
was headed for a semi. Fixing the mistake he made in his heat race start Weimer flew out of the gate and right into 3rd in his semi. His teammate Broc Tickle was quick to make the moves and sent him back into 4th. Holding onto his transfer position Weimer was off to another main event. For the race that really counted Weimer did not get the start he needed sitting back in nineteenth around the first lap. Situated in almost dead last the Suzuki rider has a lot of time to make up for. Racing hard he quickly began to work his way forward passing Chisolm and Schmidt into 17th. As he was working his way forward Canard snuck up behind him pushing him back to 18th. As the race progressed other riders began to fade while Weimer held on strong. Motivated to stay consistent the Suzuki rider was able to work his way forward into 16th where he finished the race. Not anywhere near his best finish, Weimer is definitely going to spend his week getting those starts a little more dialed before heading into the next round.
