>> Emile Lacher showed some seriously impressive speed throughout the week of racing at the 2017 JS7 Freestone Spring Championship.
The rider out of Brooksvile, Florida lined up in the 51cc (7-8) and (4-8) Limited classes, as well as the 65cc (7-8) Limited class. He had most of his success on the bigger bike as he put in two stellar performances with a second in the first moto and a first in the second. The young Floridian proved his mettle in the introductory race as he found himself with a bit
of a disadvantage heading down the start straight. He was able to make the best of the opening lap and found himself in fourth position the first time across the finish line, setting himself up for an attack on the leaders. Lacher laid down an incredible second lap in which he made the move on Austin Camden and Nate Hummel, as he leap-frogged both positions and slotted into second place. From that point forward, he did his best to track down his fellow Californian, Manuel Dumais, but he wasn’t able to do so as the gap had already grown too large. The second moto presented a better scenario for Lacher at the start of the race as he put his KTM out front from the get go. He attacked the track with aggression and style
on the opening lap, simultaneously building a cushion between himself and the riders that followed him. Lacher set his personal best lap on the second time around the track, purposefully creating an insurmountable gap for his competitors early on. He knew that if he won the moto that he would win the overall -- and he did just that with an impressive ride from the gate drop to the checkered flag that earned him the title.
