>> Kade Johnson experienced an incredible week of racing in his home
state of Texas for the 2017 JS7 Freestone Spring Championship. He was able to come away with three moto victories in all three of the classes that
he contested; 65cc (7-9) Limited, 65cc (7-9), and the 65cc (7-11) class. He started off the week in dominant fashion as he went undefeated for the first two days of racing, looking incredibly fast on his Husqvarna. In the opening moto of the (7-9) Limited class, Johnson made it easy for himself as he shot out of the gate like a cannon and took the lead within an instant. The Texas native was clearly feeling confident on his home soil as he consistently laid down lap times that were faster than his competitors, increasing the gap behind him with each passing lap. Johnson got more comfortable as the race went on which was apparent when he set the fastest lap of the moto on the penultimate time around the challenging Freestone County Raceway circuit, eventually greeting the checkered flag with a gap of almost ten seconds in hand. The second moto started in completely different fashion as Johnson found himself a little bit further back through the pack at the start of the race. He worked his way to fifth position when the first flying lap began with his sights set on Diesel Thomas ahead of him. The two of them began to close on Braxtyn Watson in third place as they began to pressure each other into a new pace, and the battle of two turned into a battle of three. On the fourth lap of the race, the young Texan got the better of his competitors and was able to force himself into third position whilst simultaneously setting one of the fastest laps of the race. The double pass that he made put him in position to clinch the overall victory and he was able to maintain the podium spot until the checkered flag, earning himself a shiny number one plate in his home state.
