>> As we are in the midst of some of the hottest times of year, the treacherous summer temperatures have brought along quite a bit of humidity; especially on the east coast. Although sites like Washougal, Glen Helen, and Hangtown brought sunshine and warmth of their own, there’s nothing quite like racing “in a sauna” so to speak. The body is absolutely depleted of all it’s liquid, sometimes even prior to takeoff. That’s why adequate hydration
is a must, whether it be with water, a speci c electrolyte formula, or even Pedialyte. Dylan Ferrandis had done all he could in the days prior, making sure to treat his body like an intricate system, taking uid when needed. It was like clockwork, so when his rst practice session would come around, he was already a step ahead of the game. The sweat would gleam off of his brow, soaking up the sponge of his goggle lens, indicating just how hard
he was working. His jersey, ying in the wind, was allowing a bit of breeze to ow in, as he was putting both bike and body into overdrive. He came to the line eager to get started for moto number one. As the eld became a bit log jammed going into the rst turn, his biggest goal was to lessen the blow of the gridlock effect. Salvaging a position near 13th, he looked to creep up the ladder, slowly stepping up one by one. Launching over the Big Gulp, he looked to his left, and would immediately tuck inside over the next rolling single. Shutting the door on Michael Mosiman he absolutely roard into the next tabletop, clicking into fourth, and fth gear consecutively; he approached Henry Hill with a fearless mentality. It would work, solidifying his spot from Chase Sexton. Approaching the nish line as the end was
in sight, a sigh of relief started to overtake him, knowing the fth spot was his. Looking to make an impact immediately for the second round, he began to soar through the air over the step-up just after the nish line, looking to place assertion into the throttle and chassis. After a horrible start, Ferrandis could be found well outside the top thirty, and forced to dig. Making moves one by one, he was ultra methodical, yet aggressive in his charge to the front. He could hear the machines revving behind him, acting almost as a siren of warning; yet he wouldn’t be fazed, remaining polished for the remainder of the race. It was a clear path to the nish after lap fteen spotting the checkered ag like a shiny relic. Tenth place was his, strong enough for ninth overall.
