Russian Emperor's Blue Convertible Rolls-Royce Available Online
The car of the Russian Emperor Nicholas II is listed for sale online with a price tag of 278 million rubles ($4.8 million). The car's mileage is 2,000 kilometers, and the vehicle "does not require repairs."
The blue con- vertible is locat- ed in Germany. The advertise-
ment says that the Russian emperor had the largest car fleet in Europe with more than two dozen premium cars. As for the particular model of the convert- ible, it was pro- duced from 1905 to 1926 and was technically mod- ern. As many as 8,416 of such cars had been produced in 20 years, the ad says.
After the death of the emperor, the Rolls-Royce was acquired by a private collec- tor from Las Vegas, who put the car on dis- play in his casi- no. Afterwards, the vehicle was sold to another millionaire, who preferred to hide it in a bunker. The rare vehicle had been con- sidered lost for a long time.
93K Pounds of Mardi Gras Beads Found In New Orleans StormDrains
By Ray Downs
Jan. 25 (UPI) - - The storm drains of New Orleans got a thorough clean- ing over the past few months and among the trash and debris, workers found 93,000 pounds
of Mardi Gras beads, city offi- cials said Thursday.
The 46 tons of beads were all found in the
popular down- town thorough- fare on St. Charles between Poydras Street and Lee Circle, the Times- Picayune reported.
While the vast amount of Mardi Gras beads indicate good times were had in the area, city offi- cials said it also means litter needs to be decreased. Overall, the $22
million, three- month clean-up project yielded 7.2 million pounds of debris in city drains.
"Once you hear a number like that, you never go back - so we have to do bet- ter," said Dani Galloway, inter- im director of the city's Department of Public Works, the New Orleans Advocate reported.
