FBI: Don't Stereotype When Giving Tips
ATLANTA - Some nervous Georgians are turning to the FBI in the wake of the Brussels attacks with their tips, but a senior FBI official said the information they are providing is really no help to investigators at all.
Concerned about ter- ror, the number two person at the Atlanta FBI Office said they are getting lots of calls requesting agents to come out to a subdivision and watch a neighbor, having no fur- ther information about that neighbor other than his or her ethnicity.
Angela Tobon said that is something the law enforcement agency will not do.
In an interview with FOX 5’s Morse Diggs, Tobon brought up the issue to let citizens know the agents' time needs to be reserved for specific information. Tobon said the well-intended phrase, "If you see something, say something," is being
taken too far.
Some Georgians have even offered their homes, suggesting an agent use a room as some kind of lookout post to watch Middle Eastern residents.
