4 NYPD Officers Caught In ‘Love Rectangle’ Stripped of Firearms So They Wouldn’t Kill Each Other
Four New York City police offi- cers are in a love rectangle, which led to the officers being stripped of their firearms to prevent them from being uti- lized in a possi- ble shooting. Sergeant Kandou Worley cheated on his girlfriend, officer Tyeis Coppin, with a fellow
officer, Stephanie Gallardo whose husband, Cristian Gallardo, is also an officer accord- ing to the New York Post.
Anticipating there could be a violent response due to the love rectangle the officers’ supervisors took away their weapons to pre- vent such an occurrence. Worl ey, 40, and Stephanie Gallardo, 33, were both work- ing in the depart- ment’s Strategic Response Group when their affair began last year.
The officers were caught when Coppin, 41,
found incriminat- ing photos on his cellphone. Coppin allegedly posted the pho- tos on Worley’s Instagram account with the captions“I told my girl I loved her 10 mins b4 I f–ked this one,” and “She’s someone’s wife, she’s not
my girl tho. I have one and this is not her!!!!”
Then on Dec. 26, Worley
informed Stephan ie the photos were online and the department found out two days later. Stephanie admit- ted to the depart- ment that she and Worley had
a “personal rela- tionship” during
September and October of last year. However, the officer said she and Cristian Gallardo, 28, had been separated since March, even though they’re still living together and rais- ing their 20- month-old daugh- ter.
The officer also claimed, “that with the excep-
tion of kissing while together off-duty on a number of occa- sions, the rela- tionship [with Worley] was not intimate.”
The NYPD said there were a total of nine guns that were taken from the four
officers under a section of the department Patrol Guide that
permits impound- ing firearms in “non-disciplinary cases,” including those involving “stress as a result of family or other situations.”
An NYPD spokesman told the Post, all four officers were given back their guns and returned to active duty, pending the results of the SOD investiga- tion.
Lt. John Grimpel said that the NYPD Patrol Guide does not prohibit relation- ships between cops even involv- ing a superior and a subordi- nate — “except if you’re a police supervisor in the police academy” The New York Post reported.
“Any police offi- cer in the acade- my cannot have a relationship with a recruit in the academy,” Grimpel said.
