Charles Koch: System Is "Rigged" In Favor Of Wealthy
By Jeanne Sahadi
Republican billionaire mega-donor Charles Koch and Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders may agree on one thing: The U.S. economic sys- tem - especially the tax code - is "rigged" in favor of the wealthy.
"This two-tiered society creates welfare for the wealthy ... and creates obstacles to opportuni- ties for the disadvan- taged," said Koch on Sunday in an interview on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."
In elaborating, he focused on inequities in the tax code.
If it were up to him, Koch said, "we would not have a two-tiered system. We
would not have a tax code that subsidizes the wealthy. We would get rid of all of that."
And specifically he focused on corporate taxes.
"We have this corporate welfare that benefits
established companies and makes it very diffi- cult for somebody to get started," said Koch, who noted that his company - Koch Industries - is among those benefiting from the current tax code.
Koch said he favors get-
ting rid of all tax breaks. None of the Republican presidential candidates are talking about that, he noted. "So that's why we haven't supported any of them."
When it was brought up to Sanders, also a guest on the show, that he may have an unlikely ally in Koch, he was having none of it.
The Kochs -- Charles and his brother David -- Sanders said, "want to basically do away with virtually every major piece of legislation that has been passed since Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president. That is their understand- ing of what government should be about. And needless to say, that is not my view."

Police: Mankato Business Paid Employees in Meth
By Kassandra Sepeda
The owner of a Mankato auto repair shop is under arrest after authorities say he offered employ- ees a bonus in the form of Meth.
Wednesday night agents from the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task force con- ducted a search warrant of Clear Choice Auto Body Repair shop at 1676 Star Street in
Mankato. This after an employee
of Clear Choice told authorities, the owner,
40-year-old Jesse Michael Seifert and his girlfriend Nancy Jean Loehlein, 39, both of Mankato, have been paying employees of Clear Choice in metham- phetamine. According to a press release, at a work meeting on Wednesday each employee was given approximately one half gram of meth as a bonus from
Loehlein and Seifert.
Seifert was arrested on a execution of the warrant for gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation and placed in the Blue Earth County Jail.
A search of the property also found used syringes and a digital scale each testing positive for meth. The case is under inves- tigation with more charges pending.
The Mankato Department of Public Safety and Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the warrant.
