4 Strangers, All Named Paul Sullivan, Form A Band Despite Coming From
Different Parts Of The World
By Fahadullah Hussaini
As reported by CBS News, an individual named Paul O’Sullivan living in Baltimore, Maryland, recent- ly reached out to people bearing the same name as him online. He connected with
fellow Paul O’Sullivans online indiscriminately, and after they accepted his friend requests, Baltimore Sullivan realized that he had more in com- mon with these strangers than just his name.
“Wait a minute, we're all musi-
cians,” said Baltimore Sullivan about his reaction when he realized that his homony- mous global pals shared the same interest as him. “You know, it kind of felt like the uni- verse was daring me to do some- thing with this serendipitous scenario.”
Baltimore Paul then reached out to all the Pauls interested in music. And even- tually, three of them agreed to form a band with him. The band, which is epony- mously called The Paul O’Sullivan band, has Manchester
Paul on bass, Pennsylvania Paul on percus- sion, and Baltimore Paul and Rotterdam Paul on guitar and vocals.
The Paul O’Sullivan Band put out their first single in early January 2020. But after the lock-
down, they came to realize that they had been working remotely anyway. So they got together and released an entire album during the lockdown.
"It feels great to be able to contact people on the other side of the world when you're in lock- down because you don't feel alone at the moment," said Rotterdam Paul, who hails from the Netherlands city.
All four Pauls find music a way to express them- selves. So with the outbreak of the coronavirus happening in 2020, it became more important to them to play music in order to survive the dark times.
