Thieves Replace Paraguay Police Rifles With Toy Replicas
Thieves in Paraguay have stolen 42 power- ful rifles from the police armory.
During an inspection, offi- cers found that the FN FAL bat- tle rifles had been replaced with wooden and plastic replicas.
The inspection had been ordered after the rifles started appearing a year ago on the black
market, where they can fetch up to $10,000 (£7,785).
The rifles had been put into storage but were still in working order.
Some of them are thought to have ended up in Argentina while others are believed to have been smuggled to Brazil.

Brazil has long complained that many of the ille- gal weapons seized there have been smuggled into the country from Paraguay.
Paraguayan media posted photos of the replicas and called it the "most embar- rassing scandal" in the history of the country's police force.
Penalty For Taunting Bison: 130 Days in Jail
By Newser Editors and Wire Services
(NEWSER) – An Oregon man who said he and his buddy were on a "last hurrah" tour through national
parks before he entered alcohol treatment was sentenced Thursday to 130 days in jail for his drunken behavior— including harassing a bison that had stopped traffic in Yellowstone National Park, per the AP. Raymond Reinke's crimes drew
national atten- tion when at least one Yellowstone visitor caught his interaction with a bison on video. Reinke, of Pendleton, Oregon, plead- ed guilty during a federal court appearance in Mammoth, Wyoming, where cases from Yellowstone park are heard.
US Magistrate Judge Mark Carman sen- tenced him to 60 days in jail for harassing wildlife, 60 days for inter- fering with law enforcement,
and 10 days for disorderly con- duct. He was given credit for 21 days served. Reinke, 55, is banned from Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Glacier national parks for a five-year probationary period during which he is not allowed to drink alcohol. His planned chemi- cal dependency treatment is now court- ordered. "I'm sorry to the buffalo. He did- n't deserve what I did to him," Reinke said, per ABC Fox Montana.
