    Treescape takes safety award
CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER
last year, the New Zealand Workplace Health & Safety Awards recognise the best of health & safety initiatives, and those working to improve health & safety outcomes in New Zealand.
Companies are judged by panel that includes representatives from WorkSafe, a trade union, Safeguard, as well as two health & safety practitioners.
Fifteen awards were presented at the annual Awards gala dinner, including the Vitae Best Initiative to promote better Worker Health, which this year was won by Treescape, which has partnered with the National Foundation for the Deaf to support staff with hearing loss, to offer apprenticeships to those with hearing disability and to raise awareness of noise- induced hearing loss.
Treescape is also a Hearing Accredited Workplace and Executive Chair Ed Chignell says; “Treescape’s nomination, and the successful award result, is a reflection of the dedication of our team to be supportive of all staff in the wider
Treescape family. “We employ such an amazing
diversity of people, and it’s fantastic to have this recognised.”
Overall honours at this year’s
New Zealand Workplace
Health & Safety
Awards went
to nationwide
agricultural sector wellbeing programme Farmstrong, about which convenor of the judging panel and editor of Safeguard, Peter Bateman, says: “Farmstrong seeks to engage with farmers in a relatable and authentic way which a generation ago would have seemed unlikely.
“Farmstrong also has a real commitment to research, which is generating statistics that are being shared within New Zealand and abroad.”

    IN EARLY DECEMBER, Husqvarna
offered a sneak peek of its CEORA automower.
Due to be released in 2022, this new automower is designed to cover more than 12 acres or up to 50,000m2 on its own, freeing up staff to tackle other tasks.
Designed to mow autonomously and systematically within virtual boundaries, Valentin Dahlhaus, Vice President at Husqvarna Group, says Ceora is “an industry game changer” and this it marks “the start of a new era in commercial turf care management.”
CEORA operates independently within
a defined area, cutting in parallel paths using Husqvarna’s EPOS high-precision satellite navigation system which delivers an accuracy of 2-3 centimetres, without the need for physical wires and allows for quick digital changes to the work area.
The new Husqvarna CEORA will in future be able to be tailored to specific
needs, by adding accessories like a lawn striper, fairway deck or line painter and can be paired with other robotic mowers.
Although we have no firm details at this time about New Zealand-specific availability or pricing, we understand shipping is due
to start to some markets from early 2022, and we expect more details of Husqvarna’s CEORA around mid-year.
