Our 2019 winner leads by example, he’s self-aware, understands both his strengths and opportunities for improvement and engages with his people at all levels to build sustainable business results in a toughening environment.
In little more than a year, Evans Bay Branch Operator Des Smith and his team have turned the struggling store around in terms of both the financials and its culture.
Des says he’s “over the moon” with the result following “a whirlwind of a year” and is quick to recognise the “amazing support” he gets from both his family and his team at Evans Bay.
Des also pays respect to PlaceMakers’ “amazing” Regional and National Office crew, along with big ups to the Leadership Team – Reagan Smith, Anthony Prior and Tara Horsnell – not to mention some key people who have supported and influenced his career: Blair Page; John Sullivan; Mark Moffitt; and Brendan Jackett
