Manager Hayden Finlayson acknowledges that it’s great to be recognised “for being on top of our game” and to share successes with the industry after “doing it tough for a couple of years – it’s important to celebrate the good stuff and all the hard work that everyone’s been putting in.”
Riccarton might be a large-format store but Hayden and team pride themselves on building close relationships with builders. Operating in what has become “almost a completely different industry to what it was before” has meant coping with a seemingly endless series of challenges, “So we’ve had to adapt and do our very best with the resources that are available.”
“We now need to work towards an unconstrained market, perhaps by introducing more alternative products, to better service our trade customers so they can get the job done.”
