David Boyd to retire at the end of May
HUSQVARNA
STALWART, David Boyd, has announced his
intention to retire at the end of May 2020.
Dealers and industry
partners in New Zealand would
more than likely have met
him at some point over the last 25 years, David having been part of the Husqvarna New Zealand operation in varying roles until 2004 and lately, Managing Director for Husqvarna Australia.
Says Colin Stimpson, General Manager of Husqvarna NZ: “The close relationship between the two countries has been crucial in our growth and David has been a major part of building the synergies between us.
“I am proud to have worked alongside David in both Australia and
New Zealand for the past 15 years and, on behalf of Husqvarna New Zealand and our Husqvarna dealer network, wish him all the best in his future retirement.”

ROBOTIC MOWERS HAVE
marked their 25th birthday, just as the first-ever standard for this equipment has been published by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI).
The ANSI/OPEI robotic mower standard is ANSI/OPEI 60335-2-107-2020 (Standard) for Outdoor Power Equipment – Household and similar electrical appliances – Safety
– Part 2-107: Particular requirements for robotic battery powered electrical lawnmowers (national adoption with modifications of IEC 60335-2-107) was approved on 5 September 2019.
Says Kris Kiser, President and CEO
of OPEI: “What is available now for homeowners and commercial users should expand dramatically over the next few years, thanks to the publication of the standard. We expect to see more competition in this product category as manufacturers design equipment to meet the industry standard. It’s an exciting time to be in the outdoor power equipment industry.”
But wait, you say – robomowers are 25? Yes indeed, Husqvarna took the first step into a new product segment with the launch of the world’s first robotic lawn mower, Husqvarna Solar mower, way back in 1995.
2019 saw another milestone as Husqvarna Group manufactured its two millionth robotic mower.
Husqvarna NZ Country Manager, Colin Stimpson, says: “Husqvarna have progressed from being a professional chainsaw brand, into a market leader in the outdoor power equipment industry. With our passion for innovation, development and precision, we have seen the company continue to progress its robotic mowing technology by unveiling the first voice-controlled all-wheel drive Automower in 2019.”
And now, to celebrate 25 years of pioneering the robotic mower industry, Husqvarna is giving away a special limited-edition anniversary version of the Husqvarna Automower 315X, featuring a unique colour, worth over $4,000.
