LAWN & GARDEN?
ON9SEPTEMBER,withspringjustahead,AmazonAustralia rolled out its latest Store, adding garden products to its existing 125million-productmix.
“Australians love the outdoors and as the temperature starts to warm up, there’s no better time to get outside and relax, unwind or entertain in your outdoor space,” said Rocco Braeuniger, Country Manager of Amazon Australia, at launch.
Ignoring fond memories of Hills Hoists and a wish for more inclusivestylesofgardengnome,insightsfromitspre-launch research into the Australian market (the Amazon Australia Outdoor Living report) include some of the following:
• 75%ofAussiemillennialsarekeengardeners,growingtheir own organic fruit, vegetables or herbs.
• 65%ofAussiesareinterestedingrowingorganicfruit, vegetables or herbs, with 34% saying they’d like to grow native plants.
• 22% say veggie gardens are their number one most wanted item in an outdoor space, followed by a BBQ (21%), and outdoor furniture (18%). For men, BBQs are number one (28%) and for women it is veggie gardens (26%)
• Some15%ofAustralianswouldalsoliketotrybeekeepingat home and 19% indicated they’d like to try and raise livestock such as chickens.
