 Movers & shakers Liam Collard is James Hardie’s new Wellington region Territory Manager. Completing the Wellington team covering builder and merchants, he will work closely with Specification Manager Heidi Misseldine and comes with a wealth of sales and sporting experience, having played representative ice hockey in both Canada and the USA. Duncan McGhie, has resigned from Mitre 10 NZ to take up a new role at long term Mitre 10 business associate Ace Hardware in Chicago, as Vice President, International Merchandising and Imports. A Mitre 10 stalwart since 2007, most recently as General Manager Source to Shelf, Duncan has also been a Board Director of the New Zealand Retailers Association. We wish Duncan well and thank him for his support over the years. Anna Rawlings, former Minter Ellison Rudd Watts partner, will take over the Chair of the Commerce Commission when 10-year veteran Mark Berry steps down. Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Kris Faafoi announced the appointment, saying Anna has played a key role in the regulator’s commerce and consumer divisions as a commissioner for the past five years. Also appointed as a new Commissioner is former Consumer New Zealand board member Joseph Liava’a. Both appointments are for three-year terms. Daniel Scheibmair returns to the timber industry, after two years in building compliance, as Specification Engineer at Simpson Strong- Tie. A former President and still elected member of the Timber Design Society, Daniel’s extensive knowledge of timber engineering and prefabrication is a natural fit in promoting the uptake of mass and light timber frame beyond residential construction. Daniel is also a Chartered Professional Engineer and is well equipped to provide hands-on practical and equally technical advice on Simpson Strong-Tie’s products. Sean Wu is also new to Simpson Strong-Tie. The new Digital Marketing Executive is responsible for digital marketing on behalf of the Pacific Rim region. Sean spent five years with Ross Roof Group and, with 10+ years’ strategic global marketing experience delivering marketing solutions to drive sales and business growth, brings a wealth of marketing skills and experience to Simpson Strong-Tie in Australasia.
