Your big advantage could be your in-store support
The common and over-arching thread amongst businesses requiring third party contractors and other service providers is that they not only want the best, they want an operator they can trust, that understands the dynamics of the service provider and that can execute and deliver in a timely, efficient and discreet manner.
When that service provision is in the highly specialised sector
of inventory management and merchandising in a high-pressure retail environment, the best has to be augmented by experience, personal service and knowledge of the brands and products as well as the retail sector involved. In the home improvement market in New Zealand suppliers increasingly turn to one name, VRM, a highly experienced service provider working as a fulcrum between supplier and retailer systems and operations.
VRM’s owner/operators, Derek and Belinda van der Vossen, have experience in New Zealand’s specialist home improvement
market going back decades. They have been retail/trade owners and operators themselves and understand the minutiae of
this highly specialised market. Around them they have built a knowledgeable and experienced team that give their clients the reassurance and value they demand. These value-adding services increase the demand for products directly at the point of sale and offer profitable growth opportunities for suppliers and retailers alike.
Some of the high demand areas in large format home improvement stores include the trade and timber departments. Last year VRM worked with Hume Pine to successfully execute a range consolidation program across 23 Bunnings branches nationwide. Following these instore relays, Bunnings was able to reduce retail prices and most importantly, simplify the buying process for the customer.
Last year also saw VRM assisting in store upgrades on behalf of their customers in the Bunnings branches in Palmerston North,
Dunedin, Nelson and the big new store near Christchurch airport. Bunnings has another upgrade underway at Botany and a warehouse destined for Westgate sometime this year.
VRM were proud to support the customers of theirs who celebrated success at last year’s Hardware Awards including Sika, Winstone Wallboards, MiTek and Thermakraft: all winners and/or finalists.
VRM, as a business, encourages open communication and collective problem solving throughout the 30-plus strong team. The team share VRM’s core values of taking responsibility for their actions, respecting the people in front of them and remaining resourceful in sometimes complex situations. To this end, the specialised nature of the work means the company is often tested in finding the right people, however the recognised advantage is having a flexible and rewarding work environment. ■
