Bunnings NZ and Mitre 10 NZ have been spending time, energy and resources doing good for communities.
Bunnings backs roots rugby again – As part of its broader program supporting New Zealand grass roots rugby, Bunnings is calling on clubs who need help upgrading their facilities to be more inclusive to support the needs of their women’s squad, to apply for Bunnings Rugby Assist.
Ten clubs will be selected to receive $30,000 worth of Bunnings products and materials and to cover labour costs.
Last year, Bunnings contributed $300,000 of products and materials, plus physical support, and aid, to rugby clubs throughout the country to improve their facilities which ranged from refreshing the sheds, interior and exterior painting, and new plumbing.

Invercargill MEGA musters support – The Southland community has delivered another milestone in the development of the Southland Charity Hospital with the deck completed and kitchen installed in the community family room.
Southland Charity Hospital was established to provide Southlanders with better access to cancer care, following Blair Vining’s highly publicised battle with terminal bowel cancer.
Determined to see change, wife Melissa Vining has been the driving force in bringing the community together to build this much-needed resource for Southland and Otago from an old pub gifted by the local Invercargill Licencing Trust.
Built by locals, Mitre 10 MEGA Invercargill became deeply connected with the project and took on managing the renovation of the community family room and the building of a new deck as part of its Helping Hands community support programme.
Invercargill MEGA General Manager Tracy Key mustered support from far and wide, sourcing materials and labour from suppliers and local trades. She said if felt only right that, as Southlanders, the team should do something to help.

THREE RECENT AWARDS programs celebrated both design and good practice in our industry.
2022 Dulux Colour Awards – The winning projects in the 2022 Dulux Colour Awards were selected from no less than 103 finalists from New Zealand and Australia, competing across six categories for awards and commendations.
The judges made special mention of a strong suite of small-scale projects from New Zealand, particularly in the Raesidential Interior Category.
“Eden View, Heron House, Casper’s House and Kimiora Apartment all demonstrated strong colour use,
with unexpected combinations and applications revealing a level of experimentation that only succeeds with creative conviction,” says judge Adam Pustola. “The impact of these interventions surprised and impressed.”
Despite the project’s modest scope, the NZ Grand Prix winner and recipient of a Commendation in the Residential Interior Category – Eden View by Pac Studio (photos above) – “Celebrates the richness of everyday life. the result is transformative and highly effective
– a credit to the architects’ vision and resolve,” said the judges.
