Whispering the last three words in her ear, she had her eyes closed as she took one last breath. The monotone on the heart monitor rang in my ears, at that moment, I was already prepared to control my cynical emotions. She’s gone forever.
After kissing her cheek with my furry antennas, I expanded my scarlet and black wings, and flew away from the empty, white hospital.
After a long period of flight, which seemed like forever, I finally flew back to our... my beloved home. It seemed normal, as usual. Amber curtains complimented with floors made from oak trees. A mas- sive TV seated next to an oval mirror, which I was facing at. Then, a tear escaped from my black, round eyes.
I’m still a cinnabar moth. But lonelier.
II
In fact, I was once a human. My long, raven hair accentuated my favorite cherry red ribbon. The
ribbon echoed the ruby gown that I was wearing for my theater debut, which also matched my cerise lipstick.
It was in an opera house, where I intonated with lots of expression. After the humongous round of applause, I bowed with a gentle smile, had a small chat with my fellow actors, and went back to my dressing room. That was also where she was waiting at my doorstep.
Her hair was a lovely shade of blonde. Her silky, pastel pink dress added a sense of elegance, along with her fair, pale skin. She looked like the fairest of them all, especially her ocean blue eyes that highlighted her exotic beauty. Yet, I had to keep my composure in order to hide my instant awe
