P. 28

First, Cosmos observes Penny who seemed to be almost finished with her practice web. To Cosmos’ untrained eye it seemed to be a well made web. But he notices that Penny is constantly pulling on one strand or another and complaining, Not straight enough. When the spider teacher came over and complemented the web, Penny came up with all kind of problems and weaknesses in her web.
When the teacher observed that maybe one strand needed to be strengthened, Penny tore the entire web down and started all over again. Cosmos observed that no mater how many webs Penny constructed or how well they were made; Penny always found fault with them and tore them down.
Cosmos then moved down the branch to see a web made by Sally. Even Cosmos could tell that it was a very poorly made web. When the spider teacher talked to Sally about the problems with her web, Sally simply said, I’ll be catching all the near sighted and the dumb bugs.
Because of his confusion, Cosmos spoke to the spider teacher about these two spider students.
