Page 29 - SB-Penny Perfect
P. 29

The teacher said of Sally, She just wants to be finished even if it is wrong or not good enough. The teacher tells Cosmos that there are no near sighted or dumb bugs and that there will be no food for Sally.
Then the spider teacher tells Cosmos that Penny’s problem is a little more complicated. She really wants to do a good job on her web. But Penny is so afraid of not being perfect, of someone else being better or someone criticizing her that she will never have a completed web. Of course, this means no food for Penny. The spider teacher finishes the story by telling Cosmos, We have no room for too perfect or too sloppy.
A willingness to do your very best and to accept your best efforts is a very difficult but important coping skill. Neither Penny nor Sally was able to learn those skills in time.
