Page 8 - Whoos A. Fraid

Well, I thought that Fraid was kind of rude to Smartest and his friends. I spoke with Smartest about it later and this is what he told me.
“Cosmos, we need to understand that to Fraid, these other owls are different. And to him, anything different is scary whether it should be scary or not. He does
not think things out. He just goes on how he is feeling. Unfortunately for Fraid, a lot of the time he is
feeling fearful.”
I guess that is why they let Smartest teach the youngsters. He understands a lot of things.
The next lesson I saw began just before dark. I was about to get ready for bed but of course, this is when owls are most active. There was Smartest with his watch explaining how it was time for young owls to start staying up all night. The night is when they hunt for food and they must get used to doing what they need to do to survive.
It was at this point in Smartest’s lecture that Fraid spoke up, “But I don’t like the night. It is dark. It has lots of shadows and strange noises. I am frightened to be out here at night all by myself. I don’t want to do this. You are just being mean to me.”
