Beautification Report – The “YARD OF THE MONTH” in Shenandoah Estates for September is 16802 Harpers Ferry. They will receive a $25 gift certificate from Cleggs Nursery. Congratu- lations! Residents are reminded that they can nominate yards for “Yard of the Month” on the website.
Entrance Committee Report – Sandy Smith – Reported that he met with Newton Landscape. They have done the first revision of the two we paid for. Sandy reported that we should get some- thing to look at in the next few weeks, and we hope to have it before the annual meeting next month.
Mike G. reported that the attorney who worked with us regard- ing the insurance claim suggested we not close the books on the claim just yet but should file suit against the insurance company on a contingency basis for full sign damage repair costs. Mike made a motion to allow the attorney to use the legal fee we al- ready paid them to file suit on our behalf on a 60/40 contingency contract. Don seconded the motion as long at it does not cost SHA any more money. Motion passed.
Unfinished Business –
Annual Meeting - The annual meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 at 6:30 at the Jones Creek Library. The meeting will begin with a meet and greet at 6:30, and the actual business meet- ing will start at 7:00. Refreshments will be served. The main pur- pose of this meeting is the election of board members. Six Board Members are up for re-election. They are Henry Grace, Mike Bass, Ken Buturla, Tom Hirschey, Sandy Smith, and Mike Giroir.
Mike Giroir was elected on an interim basis this year to complete the unexpired term of Prentiss Ferrill who resigned.
Don made a motion that we make a procedural change to move the election of Board Officers from the annual meeting to the next regularly scheduled monthly meeting in October. Tom sec- onded. Motion passed unanimously.
New Business
Council on Aging – Jay Blackmon-Williams, a representative from the EBR Council on Aging, presented information about what the Council on Aging is doing for seniors. They recently opened 2 new senior centers at BREC parks, including the BREC Antioch Park. Hot meals are provided free in the center to anyone aged 60 years or older. Also, games, activities, and exercise pro- grams are offered. They are already looking for a second location in this area. Jay provided the website www.ebrcoa.org for infor- mation about locations, schedules, and services.
In addition to the annual meeting on Sept. 17, the next monthly business meeting of the Shenandoah Homeowners Association Ltd. will be on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jones Creek Library.
